immature eagle Wildlife
Nisqually Wildlife Reserve
Run by the US Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge is full of life. There is a one-mile designated trail that you can walk on your own or with a scheduled tour guide. Going in winter, we saw blue heron, ducks, adult and adolescent geese, an immature bald eagle, and various small birds along the way, singing in the trees. There was also evidence of beaver activity and dock repair from fallen trees. The daily entrance fee is only $3 for up to four adults.
